Case Study: American Elm Prosperity Program cont.

  • We started our 30-day cycle of protozoa inoculums. Tests proved this product would give us 150 pounds of available nitrogen from microbial sources microbial bio-mass.
  • We started a seven day process of harvesting plant beneficial nematodes (bacterial and fungal feeders along with predatory nematodes. We immediately placed them into the soil so they could continue to grow and reproduce.
  • Using an Air Spade, soil augers and shovels, we trenched out the tree pits and removed this weak soil, preserving as much of the fibrous root system as possible.
  • Our material along with the protozoa tonic was placed into the trenches and core holes of the American Elms. These trees now get treated annually with just a liquid injection of indigenous organisms and food sources.

Results
  • A soil test taken 6 weeks later showed an increase of 1000 percent in the soils living bio mass. And the trend continues to increase!
  • We see these trees have the darkest, greenest and healthiest leaves in the Village of East Hampton. Drought and heat have less impact, no spraying for insects is needed. A reduction of nitrogen fertilization is another benefit.
  • The cost of pruning deadwood and injection of trees with fungicides has gone down significantly.
